Angela Merkel snubs strict Saudi Arabia dress code as she arrives for talks with King Salman without headscarf

Hillary Clinton, Theresa May and Michelle Obama have also refused to cover up their hair

Angela Merkel arrived in Saudi Arabia without a headscarf as she landed for talks with King Salman.

The German Chancellor was greeted by the king and other top officials in Jiddah but opted out of the kingdom's strict dress code.

She is not the first Western woman to refuse to wear a veil, following in the footsteps of Hillary Clinton , Theresa May and Michelle Obama.

When Prime Minister Theresa May landed in the capital Riyadh with her hair showing, she said she wanted to be 'a role model for oppressed women in Saudi'.

code requires women to wear a full-length robe and cover their hair. Women are also required to follow a guardian system and are banned from driving.

Ms Merkel has called for a burqa ban in Germany saying it is "not acceptable, it should be banned wherever it is legally possible."

A draft law to ban civil servants, judges and soldiers from wearing full-face veils at work was agreed by the country's parliament just days ago.

Perry, Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth and  Tori Spelling  joined together at Bloomingdale, Illinois’ REWindCon this weekend to take a look back at the iconic Fox drama, which aired its final episode 16 years ago. And though Doherty — who’s battling cancer — wasn’t able to attend, Perry made a point to pay special tribute to her, and honor her contributions to the show. Doherty  first announced she was fighting cancer in August 2015 , and has since been undergoing treatments and advocating for cancer research and awareness. “None of us are up here today without Shannen,” Perry said, according to  Entertainment Tonight . “She’s been through a lot. She’s not doing well right now, but sometimes her contributions are minimized.”
