A Kansas City hip-hop artist will compete for the chance to sign a record deal with some of the biggest music labels in the world as a contestant on “Signed,” VH1’s new reality music competition show debuting Wednesday, July 26.
Marcus Yates, 25, a cousin of Kansas City rap star Tech N9ne (Aaron Yates), is one of a number of aspiring artists who will compete under the watchful eyes of recording stars Rick Ross and The-Dream, as well as Lenny S., senior vice president of artist management for Roc Nation, Jay Z’s record label.
Yates, formerly known as “Oobergeek,” has been a fixture on the local rap scene for years. He has been featured on songs with his famous cousin, including “What’s Next” from Tech N9ne’s “Gates Mixed Plate” album, and alongside rap heavyweight Kendrick Lamar on “I Love Music” from Tech’s 2011 album “All 6’s and 7’s.” In a 2015 interview with a Star reporter, Tech N9ne spoke highly of his cousin and teased a collaboraton project,“Orbit,” that never came to fruition.

About that rumor that Luke Perry and  Shannen Doherty  didn’t get along as  90210  co-stars? Yeah, consider it squashed. Perry, Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth and  Tori Spelling  joined together at Bloomingdale, Illinois’ REWindCon this weekend to take a look back at the iconic Fox drama, which aired its final episode 16 years ago. And though Doherty — who’s battling cancer — wasn’t able to attend, Perry made a point to pay special tribute to her, and honor her contributions to the show. Doherty  first announced she was fighting cancer in August 2015 , and has since been undergoing treatments and advocating for cancer research and awareness. “None of us are up here today without Shannen,” Perry said, according to  Entertainment Tonight . “She’s been through a lot. She’s not doing well right now, but sometimes her contributions are minimized.”

http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/pop/7605096/hairspray-live-2007-movie-musical-differences Hairspray Live!  was quite the exciting TV event for those who really love  Hairspray,  no matter if we're talking about the 1988 movie, the Broadway play or the 2007 big-screen remake (or all three). But with the Adam Shankman-directed film -- starring Zac Efron, John Travolta, Nikki Blonsky and more -- being the reprise of most recent memory, it's hard not to compare the movie musical version to NBC's live-action special. So we did.  Check out the differences we noticed between the 2007 movie musical and  Hairspray Live!  below. Noreen and Doreen Are Missing Perhaps one of the smaller details that only mega  Hairspray  movie fans will notice (Noreen and Doreen weren't in the Broadway version), there's nobody with rhyming names in the role call during "Nicest Kids in Town." In Hairspray Live! ,...
