President of urban music/co-head of creative, Universal Music Publishing Group
Pierre "Pee" Thomas, 37
CEO, Quality Control Music
Co-Founder, Solid Foundation Management
Kevin "Coach K" Lee
COO, Quality Control Music
Motown/Capitol Music Group’s 2-year-old joint venture with Atlanta-based hip-hop label Quality Control Music is “making Motown a destination for some of the hottest artists in music,” says Habtemariam. Migos’ smash hit “Bad and Boujee” (QC/300 Entertainment), featuring Lil Uzi Vert, is the third-most-streamed song of 2017 as of Aug. 24. And Lil Yachty scored his first Billboard 200 top five this year with debut album Teenage Emotions as well as MVP guest stints on twoHot 100 top five hits, D.R.A.M.’s “Broccoli” andKyle’s “iSpy,” the latter of which is the ninth-most-streamed track of 2017 thus far.
Fan Service
Thomas: "Migos, Lil Yachty and all the Quality Control artists have hooked listeners so deeply because their music is genuine -- fans can tell they are real. They are dedicated to their sound, and they are part of their culture. Lil Yachty defends the youth and being yourself; Migos are unafraid to stand up to the establishment and flaunt success that came from the streets. Fans are devoted because the artists genuinely represent them."
Global Appeal
Habtemariam: "One thing that’s surprising everyone is how much R&B and hip-hop are connecting around the world. That’s a big part of what streaming has done. R&B/hip-hop is rooted in people who have been disenfranchised and found ways to express themselves artistically. That [feeling] exists everywhere around the world."
Star Search
Lee: "I love seeking and finding new talent. I stay up watching the Explore page on Instagram. I listen to SoundCloud every day. I study any unsigned artist on all streaming charts. I’ve built a system where I make myself accessible to artists so it’s easy for them to find me."

About that rumor that Luke Perry and  Shannen Doherty  didn’t get along as  90210  co-stars? Yeah, consider it squashed. Perry, Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth and  Tori Spelling  joined together at Bloomingdale, Illinois’ REWindCon this weekend to take a look back at the iconic Fox drama, which aired its final episode 16 years ago. And though Doherty — who’s battling cancer — wasn’t able to attend, Perry made a point to pay special tribute to her, and honor her contributions to the show. Doherty  first announced she was fighting cancer in August 2015 , and has since been undergoing treatments and advocating for cancer research and awareness. “None of us are up here today without Shannen,” Perry said, according to  Entertainment Tonight . “She’s been through a lot. She’s not doing well right now, but sometimes her contributions are minimized.”

After a taking a week off between episodes, the  Love & Hip Hop Atlanta  cast has returned and picked up at  Karlie Redd’s store grand opening , and the lady of the hour has a trick up her sleeve. Karlie has invited Ceaser, a cast member from  Black Ink , who she announces as her new boyfriend, which takes  Yung Joc  by surprise being that Karlie insisted that he be in attendance at her event. However, the rapper ultimately realizes it was a ploy to embarrass him. Karlie, who has just made amends with Joseline, takes note of Melissa having invited Estelita, Stevie J’s new artist, and feels that her presence could create conflict between the two. This prompts Karlie to inform Melissa of her displeasure while giving her the cold shoulder, a sign that there could be beef brewing between the two. Rasheeda declined Karlie’s invitation to her grand opening due to the drama in her own life and her unwillingness to be around any negative energy during this ...
